Two Sri Lankan Kfir jets have dropped a series of high powered bombs on Suthanthirapuram - a refugee settlement in Mullaitivu district. Soon after the air raids, Sri Lankan armed forces stationed at Karipattamurippu and Elephant Pass began firing volleys of shells towards Suthanthirapuram, Udayarkaddu North and Vallipuram. Many houses were reduced to rubble and cottages were set on fire. Over 25 persons including many women and children were killed on the spot. 50 seriously injured were admitted to the hospital.
